The Adventurer Guide to Living a Happy Life 63 Simple Tips to Add Happiness to Your Life Each and Every Day edition by Matt Mosteller SelfHelp eBooks

Matt Mosteller is a force to be reckoned with. A famed business leader, adventurer, and skier -- he certainly has the resume to merit writing a guide of any sort. But for those of you who haven't met Matt, it's his love and passion for life that made me want to read his book. It's easy to be happy when things are great - chest deep powder days, booming economic times, birthday parties etc -- but what makes Matt a truly special person is that he doesn't wait for those moments to bring happiness to his life, he really does bring positive energy and happiness to life every day, and it's infectious. Spend ten minutes with Matt and two things will happen. First, you will know that you want to be around this guy more often. Second, you will want to know what his secret sauce is.

The Adventurer's Guide to Living a Happy Life reveals how Matt invests in his happiness every day. Matt explains in his natural storyteller voice the lessons he has learned through an adventurous life. He doesn't map out a path to happiness in mystic complexity, he shares with us how he actually brings positive energy and strength to his world every day - through the high points and the low points. This isn't a self-help book filled with platitudes and feel-good thinking about how to be a better you - it is very much a book of verbs and the purpose behind those verbs. From knowing Matt I already knew that he wakes up very early every morning, but this book tells you how and why he does it. Matt doesn't wake up early and run because he should, he does it because he reaps the rewards of energy and endorphins. Matt doesn't eat well because he wants to look good for others, he eats well because it makes him feel better and more alive. Matt doesn't reach out to friends and family because he should, he shares his love and happiness because making others happy gives him fulfillment and enriches the lives of those around him. Reading his positive model for life you begin hearing yourself say "yeah, that's true" - "yeah that is when I have felt the happiest too." Reading the Adventurer's Guide I was reminded of the first time I read Marcus Aurelius' "Meditations." Really - they might not be contemporaries but the style is similar and both have a straight-forward and sincere voice. I expected a Roman emperor to wax poetically on the nature and meaning of life while brushing over the actual details of living, but what I found was an honest and human description of one man's understanding of our purpose, and his thoughts on how to best think about living out our lives. Matt might find himself in a ski jacket more often than a toga, but like a great philosopher bringing clarity and guidance to an idea you have felt but couldn't articulate or quite embrace, Matt has given us a view into his understanding of life and has provided real actionable guidance for how to achieve happiness. The Adventurer's Guide shows us how we can become active stakeholders and investors in our lives, relationships, and happiness.

Matt's secret sauce is a secret no more.I for one am going to see if I can start tomorrow by setting my alarm clock a little earlier, seeing how far I can run, and eating a Mosteller breakfast of oatmeal, banana, and french roast before starting my day. Do yourself a favor and read this book. Then share it, read it again, and discuss it with your friends. We can all tap into our inner Matt-ness!

Very uplifting book! The writer loves life and you can feel it while reading the book. The book is filled with many positive and excellent pointers on dealing with different aspects of life. I would recommend this book highly.
Not at all what I expected...just well-worn platitudes.

I already knew most of this. Early bird gets the worm was the theme of the story. Still it mad reassuring
